- Date of publication 01-16-2005 Our senior Sisters are very grateful for Oblate priest Thomas Bilodeau’s capable animation of their recent mini-retreat…..
Last December 2,3 and 4th our senior Sisters, a few other Sisters of the Canadian Province as well as neighboring Sisters of other congregations lived a very special time of intense personal and community prayer.
The conferences during these few retreat days given by Thomas offered practical suggestions that were both enlightening and empowering, urging each participant forth on their life-long journey toward greater growth and renewal. Father Thomas also animated a profoundly meaningful communal celebration of reconciliation and healing during which there was a time for also celebrating the sacrament of reconciliation individually, as signified by the presider’s laying on of his hands in a gesture of healing and forgiveness, in God’s name.
The theme chosen for this retreat time followed the liturgical season of Advent: God surprises us in our waiting; God builds in a spirit of justice and peace; God responds to the hope of God’s poor ones and God becomes one of us. Thomas knows the Sisters of N-D community very well as he presides eucharist in their home on a weekly basis. He is blessed with a wholesome theology, a wonderful facility for expressing insights and truths in today’s language very much aware of today’s particular challenges and reality. His simplicity and experience of religious life, so appreciated by us all, provide participants with a clear sense of the very real challenges that living our mission ever more fully calls forth is us, for the good of each person, everywhere!
It is heart-warming to see these senior women ever seeking to live the daily challenge of their mission with so much dedication, profiting by the spiritual resources afforded them in the day to day unfolding of their journey, in a spirit of undaunted faith, following in the footsteps of Jesus who became one of us..... according to the charism and intuition of Perrine Thulard, our beloved foundrice!
