- Date of publication 12-31-2004 The week end of the 11th and 12th December was a wonderful opportunity to show that ‘intercongregational meeting’ can bear much fruit!
This meeting was a gathering of about fifty young Sisters of Apostolic Congregations (less than 15 years professed) organised as a regional networking and under the guidance of the Religious Conference of the Major Superiors in France. We came from 24 different congregations, and our theme this year was: The ‘Mission’ is living the Gospel related to society and today’s Church. With the help of various witnesses and the lectures given by Father Joncheray, a sociologist, we were able to reflect so as to try and better understand the society we live in, its calls to us, and how we can bring answers or propositions by who we are personally, as a congregation or by means of inter congregation links. Here are a few of the questions we had: - In view of how society is today, how can we make the faith values heard? - How can one adapt the Good News to the various cultures while respecting the universality of its message? - In the Church, must we gather or scatter? We need both! - What are the calls made to us? Where are we expected to be?
…. Actually, we are not always expected to be where we think, but we have to be ready! It is up to us to be like Our Lord who made ‘room’ literally and figuratively for the Syro-Phoenician woman who dared enter the place he was staying (Mark 7, 24-30).
This yearly gathering was a time of sharing of our experiences, of deep learning, of cebration and relaxation together. We really had a good time and the newcomers soon felt at home. The rendez-vous is already taken for next year but in the meantime we have common projects to work on.
