At LAKOTA in Ivory Coast: a Final Profession

5- in Africa - Date of publication 11-16-2004
On the 16th October 2004, Sister Brigitte Tché Tché Zohan made her Final

Akabléboua, the village where Brigitte was born, is situated on the borders of Lakota. On this 16th October 2004, the village is more animated than usual. Awnings and chairs are installed, the square and streets are decorated, guests arrive, tam tams and band are playing and there is singing and dancing.
Here in her native village Sister Brigitte makes her Final Profession in the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady of Evron. The Eucharistic celebration is presided over by Jean-Pierre Kutwan, Archbishop of Gagnoa and concelebrated with two other priests. A prayerful celebration which we will refer to again when explaining the symbol chosen by Brigitte.
To the sound of tam tams and band, the whole village and the numerous guests who had come from all over, exploded with joy, singing and dancing to the glory of God. During this burst of enthusiasm a woman in the crowd cried out: « Thank you, Sister Brigitte, for today you have brought God to visit us in our village ». She was right for as the Scripture tells us:    « God is present in the praise of His people ».
When the guests had departed a huge downpour, seen in Africa as a blessing, watered the whole area. It was indeed a beautiful feast.
