25 religious at the Motherhouse celebrate their jubilee

2- in France - Date of publication 07-14-2004
May 5th 2004, marks an occasion of great celebration for the jubilarians of the Motherhouse. Twenty-five religious of the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady of Evron celebrate an important milestone of their religious life.

Fifty, sixty, sixty-five, seventy, or seventy-five years ago they committed themselves to God by religious profession following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ according to the particular intuition of Perrine Thulard, their foundress. Today they are celebrating this graced history of God’s faithful love. Just as married couples mark silver and golden wedding anniversaries, so these women pause to give thanks for God’s faithfulness towards them. Today, they witness to the fact that throughout their lives the Lord has never abandoned them despite the various difficulties encountered along life’s journey. The Lord is truly the focus of their lives.

Every life is the story of a wonderful adventure! The life adventure of each jubilarian has led them to serve their brothers and sisters, through whom they serve Jesus Christ. They are former nurses, teachers, laundry personnel or cooks from la Sarthe, la Mayenne or l’Orne. Among those celebrating their jubilee, there are also former administrators of institutions and former congregational leaders. And three of these women spent many years as missionaries in Africa. Oh! It is true that they are no longer "young in age" yet their hearts still vibrate with compassion and real interest when it comes to the important current world and Church issues. These awarenesses then become prayer intentions regularly offered to God. They know how to clean, write or crochet, continuing to serve according to their changing health possibilities and talents. Together they help and support each other to live their present reality with a maximum of serenity, joy and confidence.

Today, on this happy occasion of their jubilee, they are surrounded by members of their families, by friends and by members of their religious family. From France, Canada, England, Africa and Peru they received flowers, best wishes and also many other expressions of affection, as sisters from abroad added to the spirit of friendship present throughout this festive celebration.
