Echoes from the English Province

3- in England - Date of publication 07-08-2004
We have welcomed this "Year of Perrine" with great joy.

Of late, there has been an upsurge of enthusiasm, energy and life among the Sisters of the English Province. We have welcomed this "Year of Perrine" with great joy.

Her Triduum on 6th – 9th November, was celebrated in each Community in an extra special and meaningful way. There was a sense of pride in the way we spoke to others of Perrine and displayed her picture for all to see. On 21th November, the Province met in Mary Mount so that our elderly sisters could share with us in celebrating Perrine's anniversary. The readings from Scripture and our own spiritual books together with the shared prayer and the symbols we used during our celebration, helped us, not only to look back in faith on the journey made by the Sisters of Evron during three hundred years, but to look forward in hope to the days ahead when the Sisters of Evron will still be walking in the footsteps of Perrine. The highlight of the celebration was a Service of Reconciliation which helped each one of us allow the peace of Christ re-enter our hearts. A reason for our enthusiasm and renewed life is the fact that we are now in the 100th year of the presence of the Sisters of Evron on English soil.

On 22nd of October 1904 on their arrival on English soil, this small group of French Sisters of Evron sowed the seeds of Perrine's charism. We thank God that her Spirit is as much alive to-day as it was when those brave Sisters brought it from France one hundred years ago. Yes, the seeds are still producing fruit to-day as we, her daughters, follow in her footsteps and commit ourselves to serve Jesus-Christ poor in the person of the poor.

We will be asking all the Sisters of the Congregation to share our joy and thanksgiving for our 100th anniversary nearer the date.
