- Date of publication 04-14-2008 The life of our Congregation is like a jigsaw puzzle that remains incomplete. Dates, events and periods of our history are often lacking…..but sometimes we make unexpected discoveries…..
René Thulard and Perrine Brunet have the pleasure of inviting you to their wedding which will take place on 6th February 1674 at Domfront en Champagne (72).
This is how the news would have been announced in modern times.
As you can see a fairy has passed by and with a magic wand has cleared up a mystery by adding one of the missing pieces to our puzzle (which had been searched for on many occasions): the marriage of Perrine.
While looking for a very different piece of information, a past pupil of the school in Chapelle-au-Riboul had the curiosity and presence of mind to search in the county archives for Le Mans the name of Thulard. Surprise! What could have been an “April Fool joke” turned out to be a wonderful piece of news!
No time was lost in convoking the General Council to tell them “the surprise”…..
Thursday 2nd April, Sister Renee Boué gave Sr Cécile an envelope sealed with wax containing the “good news” and left with a box of sugared almonds to give to each sister in the house.
Let us hope that Perrine will have other similar surprises in store…..but she will need help. Enlightened by the hope of resolving other enigmas let us not hesitate to search in the great archaeological site which we hold so dear: our history!
