First ever Canada-wide Catholic Youth Conference held in Hamilton, Ontario, a huge success……

4- in Canada - Date of publication 02-27-2006
12 participants attend the conference from the Edmonton Archdiocese--including two sisters of Évron….

From each of Canada’s 10 provinces and from 2 out of 3 of Canada’s vast territories came enthusiastic, dedicated persons all holding two major areas of value in common……that of a vibrant, alive faith combined with a real concern for, proximity with and promotion of youth both within the Church’s various faith circles and within all of society as a whole.

We were between 350 and 400 representatives of youth ministry initiatives from all across our very diverse country!   Both of the two main speakers’ conferences were available in both French and English thanks to the presence of translators.  Some of the workshops were available in French and others in English.  We were delighted that participants from the US and two African countries could join us.   The flavour of the conference was very much orientated to social justice issues and the promotion of those of our world who still experience conditions of poverty and a lack of human dignity.  Such an enthusiastic, committed, faith-filled ambiance radiates real, undaunted hope while giving renewed dynamism in the face of the many everyday challenges of youth ministry initiatives!!

The next national catholic youth conference is planned for 2008 in Banff, Alberta!
