The theme for this year: "A life centred on Jesus Christ", with particular
emphasis on the humanity of Jesus.

On Saturday 1st October 2005, as a new year of reflection began, six of us came together, in the Bethany room, in St Joseph‚s building, Evron. The theme chosen for this year was "A life centred on Jesus Christ", with particular emphasis on the humanity of Jesus.

At the beginning of the meeting we recalled the joys and sufferings experienced by each one during the summer. Then, we evoked the feelings expressed by Jesus in the Gospel of St. John (11, 1-44): „Lazarus, Jesus friend, is dead‰. His friend‚s sickness does not make Him hasten to His bedside. He knows what is going to happen, and He does not seem worried. He knows that Life does not end with death. The resurrection is full of hope. Martha and Mary question Him, reproach Him: they are sad with the sorrow of losing someone they love. Jesus is truly the incarnation of Man on this earth: He is moved, distressed and even weeps just as we do. But, He trusts in the Father. He knows the destiny reserved for each one of us and especially for Himself.

After tea we continued our reflection using the writings of Henry Nouwen. (Living ones Faith in daily life). There he evokes human relationships, "a reflection of God's love for the whole of humanity and for each individual." Our mission is to be living witnesses to His Love, in daily life, at work, in the family. We must make this gift of love fruitful. We must begin by overcoming our fears of being open to others. These fears are a source of suffering; they can cause us to act, to speak in a way that is hurtful, or violent... and wound other people. To be aware of ones fears and to overcome them helps us to grow, but we must also know how to be grateful. Nevertheless, it is not always easy to say THANK YOU. Some see it as a sign of weakness. How wrong they are...

Father Joseph Wresenski enlightens us about what Love is for him: "it is to forget oneself, ones suffering", "it is to want for others what we want for ourselves", "it is to support and not to discredit". This text provoked some interesting reflections: everyone has their own way of seeing things according to their history, their life. To share, to exchange helps us to progress on the path of Faith.

We continued our discussions as we did the washing up. Then, we left to go our separate ways, our minds full of words to meditate on while waiting for the next meeting on the 26th November 2005
