The associates

A hundred years… That can be understood in various ways

4- in Canada - Date of publication 11-09-2009
Perrine has been present in the West of Canada for a hundred years in the person of the Sisters who took up a challenge and accomplished a great acheivement. Each one left her own corner of Mayenne to go to “the other end of the earth” as people said at the time and we can imagine the strong faith that motivated them.

Following in the footsteps of the pioneers during this pilgrimage I was encouraged by another exceptional witness: Father Humberto Boulangé-Allegre who had come from the end of the earth South American accompanied by the 2 Canadian Sisters Rosanne and Gloria. What a charism tinged with mischievous complicity towards our Congregation. We spent a lot of time in discussion and chatted about many different subjects from aircraft to the Episcopal structures in the Church.

He was deeply impressed by the smiles and obvious enjoyment of You all, the Sisters. Aware of the inexorable decline in numbers he said “well the Sisters of Evron are moving joyfully and lucidly towards a different future, another form of apostolate. I can still see them arriving in Peru, in my underprivileged area of Lima and saying: here we are, we want to found a community here! Their fierce determination and willingness to be integrated in their surroundings was very evident and in conformity with PERRINE’S legacy.

For Father Humberto, after 20 years of mission work, what a joy and a comfort to have the Sisters of Our Lady of Evron working beside him. When we see the extraordinary success of these 100 years of presence (which include the naming of a square in Trochu “Evron Square”), it is impossible not to envisage a future full of promise, perhaps more modest, but none the less real and achievable.

To conclude, I think that our “private chaplain” during his Canadian visit with US, Sisters and lay associates, was happy to discover the varying size of our Congregation ever alive, changing but with the promise of a different future...

Sister Marie-Louise Recton whose memory is still alive in Alberta

4- in Canada - Date of publication 11-09-2009
Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that a young woman, one of my relatives (Sister Marie-Louise Recton, first provincial of the sisters of Evron in Canada) would have had such a lasting effect on a community.
The Fortsaskatchewan Associates

The Fort Saskatchewan Associates meet on a monthly basis after the 11:00 mass, usually at Our Lady of Angels Parish church hall if the meeting rooms are not being used. This has provided us the opportunity to have Fathers Francis and John join us on several occasions.
The Bonnyville Associates

Of course it goes without saying that Associates are active in the Church and their local parishes.  One activity that several of the Bonnyville Associates are involved in is that of the LIVE-IN SOCIETY.
