The associates

Associates in Canada

4- in Canada - Date of publication 07-15-2004
During this past year the associates have met regularly in three groups coming together as one gathering on May 15th, 2004 to reflect and share on this year’s theme and again on June 13th to celebrate God’s blessings by a year-end BBQ.

This year the three groups of associates met regularly in their various localities to pray, reflect together and deepen their knowledge and appreciation of the charism that unites us all.
Each gathering is so uplifting, spiritually nourishing and truly friendly, that associates and sisters alike, return to their various responsibilities with even greater enthusiasm and a very real experience of the kind of solidarity and support that gives each one courage, audacity and perseverance in the face of the every day tasks of the particular mission entrusted to them. The compassion, prayer and interest shown for the missionary countries of Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Peru and their various developmental projects is truly heart warming. Very often this collaborative spirit regarding the various missionary projects is even expressed by financial sharing !

This year we have the particular joy of welcoming a third group of associates gathering in the Bonnyville area. By the quality of their enthusiasm and participation it seems like they have been with us for a long time already !

As in the other countries, this year has also been spent giving honor to Perrine, our beloved foundress, on the occasion of the 350th anniversary of her birth. We have been working diligently in connection with the other countries to prepare the congregation-wide celebrations to take place in Evron, France, this August and as well as preparing our own celebration to take place this coming September in Edmonton.

On May 15th the three groups of associates and the sisters gathered to spend a day of input, reflection time, prayer and sharing on this year’s theme of “enhancing a spirit of real communion among us”. We are grateful for the expertise of Mary Coswin, Benedictine, who very ably helped us to deepen, reflect on and finally live out this year’s theme in simple everyday gestures that make a difference. It was a delightfully enriching day !

A hundred years… That can be understood in various ways

4- in Canada - Date of publication 11-09-2009
Perrine has been present in the West of Canada for a hundred years in the person of the Sisters who took up a challenge and accomplished a great acheivement. Each one left her own corner of Mayenne to go to “the other end of the earth” as people said at the time and we can imagine the strong faith that motivated them.
Sister Marie-Louise Recton whose memory is still alive in Alberta

Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that a young woman, one of my relatives (Sister Marie-Louise Recton, first provincial of the sisters of Evron in Canada) would have had such a lasting effect on a community.
The Fortsaskatchewan Associates

4- in Canada - Date of publication 06-15-2009
The Fort Saskatchewan Associates meet on a monthly basis after the 11:00 mass, usually at Our Lady of Angels Parish church hall if the meeting rooms are not being used. This has provided us the opportunity to have Fathers Francis and John join us on several occasions.
